The Position: Control the Ground Handling activity on all flights to achieve a safe and timely flight operation that meets the customer airline’s (dnata)& Emirates requirements (EK).Serve as a focal co-ordination point for airlines & service delivery teams, including the Dispatcher for flight handling related information, and for the maintenance of flight movement times
Job Profile: Flight Briefing and planning-Proactively co-ordinate with customer airlines & EK and service delivery teams, scan the available systems and messages to ascertain specific flight handling requirements / special loads. Collate the information on the Flight Control Sheet and maintain a follow-up check-list to ensure that the requirements are effectively delivered and special loads taken care of. This is in order to ensure that the internal and external customer support is optimised and quality service results are achieved. Ensure that the service delivery teams achieve the required results. Flight Precision Time Schedule monitoring -Exercise effective control over the Precision Time schedules of flights by proactively monitoring flight progress through the Airport Activity Control System and by maintaining effective communication with the Ground Dispatcher and service delivery teams. Forewarn the service delivery teams of potential flight handling challenges and follow up to ensure that challenges are effectively dealt with. Update the Activity Control System with potential delays, analyse the delay impact on other ground handling activity and communicate the resultant affect with proposed alternatives to the service delivery teams. Keep the MOCON Duty Controller (MCDC) (dnata)& MAS (EK) posted on significant flight status. Flight schedule integrity -Responsible to ensure that the flight movement is received from the up-line station and accurately captured in the dnata Management Information Systems (DMIS) or CORE system for EK flights. Follow-up with chaser messages to outstations if the Movement Message is not received as per the schedule. Dispatch Arrivals and Departure Movement messages to maintain the Service Level Agreement with the airlines and to keep the network stations updated on flight schedule and to alert the teams of any potential delay. This is in order to ensure that all the dnata& EK service delivery teams and customer airlines are provided with up-to-date flight movement information, which translates into efficient resource management for the entire Airport Services teams thus directly impacting operational costs and service delivery. Emergency response and disruption control -Co-ordinate the emergency response on the affected flight/s by seeking, compiling and disseminating information to / from the service delivery teams and customer airline. Man the MOCON Incident Desk and apply the established Emergency / Disruption handling procedures in close co-ordination with the MOCON Duty Controller (MCDC) and/or the HCC Manager (EK). Closely follow-up on special loads and ensure passenger figures and dead-load dispersal details is reconciled before ‘closing’ the flight folder.
A high level of responsibility and maturity must be exercised while dealing with sensitive situations such as response to Aircraft Emergency (Aircraft Incidents) and security threats (Bomb Threats, Hijacks etc) as the same has far reaching impact on the image and business of the organisation. Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) -Ensure understanding of and compliance with the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the assigned work process.
Accountabilities applicable to dnata
Aircraft stand planning -Accountable to ensure that the airport aircraft stand / gate utilisation is effectively optimised and planned to meet the interest of Emirates and dnata operations. Vet the stand plan released by Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and influence the Airport Authority to adjust the same to suit the operational requirements of dnata& EK. Escalate unresolved issues to the MOCON Duty Controller and keep the customer airline / service delivery teams updated on any variances. Exercise proactive control over real time stand changes through the DCA Stand Planner positioned within Movement Control Centre. Accountable to ensure that the relevant front-line units and customer airlines are kept up-to-date with the stand allocation status.
Aircraft towing programme management -Accountable to ensure that an efficient “aircraft towing” programme is planned and effectively executed, to optimise Concourse allocation of aircrafts. Assert proactive control over front line teams such as EK Engineering, dnata Dispatch, Ramp and Technical Services to achieve the planned tows within compact precision times. Brief the MOCON Duty Controller (MCDC) on critical tows / issues for further resolution / follow-up with Airport Authorities / Duty Management.
Radar watch -Monitor the “radar track” and VHF frequency by ascertaining each flight signal and establishing flights arriving / departing from Dubai. Verify the radar information against the DMIS flight schedules and proactively investigate any variance. Alert the service delivery teams on aircraft final approaches not later than 10 mins. prior to the touch-down time. Intercept and take prompt action on aircraft emergencies by alerting the MOCON Duty Controller and by following the established Emergency Check-list. Interact with Flight Captains on the radio frequency and follow-up on their ground handling requirements, ensuring a log of all calls and subsequent follow-up action (complete check-list).
Experience and Qualifications:
- ‘A’ level or equivalent

- Load Control – 1 and basic Passenger / Ramp handling courses; Sound knowledge of various Departure Control Systems at Dubai Intl. Airport; Airport Activity Control System; Baggage Re-conciliation System; Expert knowledge of dnata Management Information System (DMIS) with a sound knowledge of the billing requirements. Good knowledge of Movement Control operations and emergency / disruption handling procedures.

- Minimum 5 years experience in Ground Handling Operations with a preferred experience of 2 years in Movement Control environment.
